Duke Kunshan University

The Chinese Ministry of Education granted preliminary approval for the creation of Duke Kunshan University in August 2012. A partnership between Duke University, Wuhan University, and the city of Kunshan, China, Duke Kunshan University will offer liberal education programs for students from China and around the world. Pending final establishment approval from the Chinese Ministry of Education, academic programs are expected to begin in 2014.
The Duke Kunshan University campus is under construction on a 200-acre site within the 1,700+ acre Kunshan Yangcheng Lake Science park, located between Shanghai and Suzhou.
The first phase of construction includes six buildings totaling 750,000 square feet: a classroom and education building, student and faculty residences, an education and innovation research building, an executive conference center and a support facility.
