A comprehensive list of these activities will be featured soon at this site, but current examples include:<\/p>\n<h2>Faculty Diversity Task Force<\/h2>\n<p>In 2014 the Academic Council appointed a Diversity Task Force that completed its work in 2015 with a report and recommendations for the next decade of Duke\u2019s efforts related to diversity.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/provost.duke.edu\/faculty-resources\/advantages\/faculty-diversity-initiative\/\">Faculty Diversity Initiative<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/academiccouncil.duke.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/u6\/AC-pdfs\/14-15\/may-7\/DTF%20Final%20Report.pdf\">Diversity Task Force Final Report<\/a> (pdf)<\/p>\n<h2>Community Standard<\/h2>\n<p>Duke has a longstanding <a href=\"http:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/conduct\/about-us\/duke-community-standard\">community standard<\/a>, which all students sign and pledge to keep<br \/>\nDuke University is a community dedicated to scholarship, leadership, and service and to the principles of honesty, fairness, respect, and accountability.<\/p>\n<h2>Town Hall with University Leadership<\/h2>\n<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/today.duke.edu\/2015\/11\/forum\">community conversation<\/a> with President Brodhead, Provost Kornbluth, and Trinity College Dean Ashby.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Student Input<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/spotlight.duke.edu\/taskforce\/files\/2016\/02\/ASA-AAA-Diya-Student-Demands-1-21-16.pdf\">ASA AAA DIYA Student Demands<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/spotlight.duke.edu\/taskforce\/files\/2016\/02\/Circulated-List-of-Demands-from-Blue-Devils-United.pdf\">Blue Devils United<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/spotlight.duke.edu\/taskforce\/files\/2016\/02\/Demands-of-Black-Voices-11-20-15.pdf\">Demands of Black Voices<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/spotlight.duke.edu\/taskforce\/files\/2016\/02\/Mi-Gente-List-of-Demands.pdf\">Mi Gente List of Demands<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h2>Programs and Centers<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/\">Office of Student Affairs<\/a><br \/>\nDuke\u2019s Office of Student Affairs serves all students \u2014 undergraduate, graduate and professional \u2014 enhancing Duke\u2019s academic excellence with a broad set of experiences and services designed to help all students succeed at Duke, and in life.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/bias-response\">Bias Response Advisory Committee<\/a><br \/>\nDuke Student Affairs established a Bias Response Advisory Committee to advise the Vice President for Student Affairs on allegations of bias-related incidents that may impact the Duke community.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/jewishlife\">Center for Jewish Life at Duke<\/a><br \/>\nThe Freeman Center for Jewish Life serves as a home away from home for all those seeking to engage with the Jewish community while at Duke.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/muslimlife\">Center for Muslim Life at Duke<\/a><br \/>\nMuslim Life at Duke is committed to enriching the lives of Muslim students and the whole campus through events and activities that cater to the spiritual, social and intellectual needs of Duke students.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/cma\">Center for Multicultural Affairs<\/a><br \/>\nThe Center for Multicultural Affairs (CMA) empowers students and their organizations to create a vibrant and inclusive multicultural student community.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/today.duke.edu\/2013\/09\/centeropening\">Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity<\/a><br \/>\nIn his remarks at the Center\u2019s opening in 2013, President Brodhead said that the university regrets a past history of acts of intolerance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/ihouse\">Duke University International House<\/a><br \/>\nThe International House provides educational services and advocacy to the international population at Duke as well as outreach to the Durham community, offering extensive cross-cultural programming and information to enhance the global mission of the university.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/wc\">Duke Women\u2019s Center<\/a><br \/>\nThe Duke University Women\u2019s Center is dedicated to educating and empowering women at Duke to be active and engaged citizens of the world, welcoming men and women alike who are committed to gender equity and social change. The Women\u2019s Center offers a wide range of programs and activities ranging from entrepreneurship and networking to confidential crisis support for people of all genders who are survivors of gender violence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/mlw\">Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture<\/a><br \/>\nThe Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture strives to promote racial understanding, build community, and foster an appreciation for and increase knowledge of Black people, Black history, Black culture, and the vast contributions of people of the African Diaspora. The Center provides programs and services which contribute to the successful academic and personal development of Black students at Duke University and positively impact the lives of all those whom they encounter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.duke.edu\/equity\/\">Office of Institutional Equity<\/a><br \/>\nThe Office for Institutional Equity provides institutional leadership in enhancing respectful, diverse and inclusive work and learning environments for the Duke Community.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/today.duke.edu\/2014\/04\/outreachaccess\">Office of Outreach and Access<\/a><br \/>\nThis new office will lead programs targeting first-generation and low-income students.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/today.duke.edu\/2015\/11\/washingtondukescholars\">The Washington Duke Scholars Program<\/a><br \/>\nThis program will improve the support for first generation and students of diverse backgrounds to take full advantage and thrive at Duke.<\/p>\n<h2>Training and Education<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Orientation for New Students and Parents<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nFor incoming students and their parents, orientation programs were added in order to deepen the discussion of multicultural issues.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/new-students\/orientation\/first-year-orientation\">New Student orientation: Multicultural Connections: Embracing the Spirit of Community<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/parents\/first-year-parents\/parent-family-orientation\">New Parent orientation: Creating Community: From Diversity to Inclusion<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Training for Community Members<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/dukereach1\/training\">Bystander Intervention Training<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/wc\/programs-services\/pact-prevent-act-challenge-teach\">Preventing Gender Violence<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/hero\/ally-network\">Ally Network<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Commemoration of Duke\u2019s Black and LGBTQ students<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/studentaffairs.duke.edu\/csgd\/about-us\/queering-duke-history\">Queering Duke History:<\/a> Understanding the LGBTQ Experience at Duke and Beyond.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.library.duke.edu\/blog\/2014\/08\/22\/new-exhibit-queering-duke-history-understanding-lgbtq-experience-duke-beyond\/\">This\u202fexhibition of LGBTQ history at Duke<\/a> was a part of a semester-long commemoration that included other exhibits and events.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/spotlight.duke.edu\/50years\/\">Celebrating the Past, Charting the Future<\/a>: Commemorating 50 years of Black Students at Duke<br \/>\nThis nine-month, university-wide commemoration highlighted the school\u2019s 50th anniversary of integration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Duke has ongoing efforts to strengthen and deepen the university\u2019s ability to foster and support a diverse and inclusive community.
