Janet Hill is a principal with Hill Family Advisors in Fairfax, Virginia. She previously was owner and vice president of Alexander & Associates, Inc., a corporate consulting firm in Washington, D.C., providing corporate planning, advice, and analyses to directors, executives, and managers in the areas of human resource planning, corporate responsibility, corporate communications, and government consultation. Formerly, she was special assistant to the Secretary of the Army and a research mathematician for a consulting firm serving the United States Navy. She has also taught mathematics at the high school and collegiate levels.
Mrs. Hill received a bachelor of arts from Wellesley College in 1969, and a master of arts in mathematics from the University of Chicago Graduate School in 1972.
Mrs. Hill is a member of the corporate boards of The Wendy’s Company, Dean Foods, Inc., Carlyle Group and Esquire Bank. She has non-profit board affiliations with the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics, the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts appointed by President Obama, and Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts. In addition, Mrs. Hill is a former chairwoman of the Women’s Campaign Fund, the only bipartisan national PAC raising money for women running for federal, state, and local offices.
Elected to the Duke University Board of Trustees in 2006, Mrs. Hill serves on the Institutional Advancement Committee and chairs the Honorary Degrees Committee.
Mrs. Hill served as a member of the Board of Visitors of the Fuqua School of Business at Duke. She and her husband, Calvin, chaired the Parents Committee in the early 1990s when their son, Grant, was a Duke undergraduate. The Hills reside in Great Falls, Virginia.
